Working With Wood

Image
During this course, I took a workshop called Woodshop. In this class, we learned how to use certain tools and machines with the wood. I learned how to transfer a picture from paper to a block of wood. The first thing we did was use the table saw so that we could all have a piece of wood for our pictures. After everyone got their piece of wood, we all uploaded a picture of us into a google docs and they had to be acceptable so that we could put them on the block of wood. Next, we had to take our pictures and up load them into a website that can reverse the picture. We had to wait for our pictures to print out so that we could start the process of our wood pictures.  After everyone received their pictures, we had rub the corners of the wood in sand paper so that the wood could have soft edges. Once the edges were smooth, we stained our wood. " Stain may be loosely defined as any transparent or translucent agent used to color wood. Unlike paint, which has pigment suspended in a bind

In Poetic Justice, we have been working on poems that deal with political issues. For our last AP we had to try to memorize our poems. This was the hardest part about the poem because I was so used to reading off of the paper. I will honest, I tried my hardest to memorize but it wasn't working. I had to change up some of my poem because it was way too long. We haven't went on any FE's for this project but on 1/19/2018, Amy from the poetry foundation came in and we talked about poems and how they make us feel. I tried to make sure that I used a lot of emotion and change up the tone of my voice but that was pretty hard because I was trying to remember words while reading my poem. This was a very interesting class. I enjoyed making poems and I loved how I was able to relate some of this stuff to me. As a poet I feel like once you are able to put yourself into a situation it makes things look different to you. It is amazing how I was able to relate to poem, and since I was able

Helping In 3D

In RPG, we made it to the 3D section of this class. I have learned how to use a 3D printer and I also learned about the different websites you have to use so that your object can be made. For this project, we had to make a design that could out the school. We also had to work with partners. I feel like my design is very helpful because it allows things to stay in place and not everywhere in the class room. This design took a long time to make but it was worth it because it came out looking great. I feel that the 3D printers should be used more in the world because they actually make life easier. All you have to do is upload whatever design you want into a network and BAM, you have a design that can help you or someone else. Adam helped everyone in the class and I feel like we all are thankful for Adam's help in the class. This is the last AP of his class and I feel like Adam's class helped me learn a lot. I never knew that 3D printers existed until I came to GCE and then I lear

In Poetic Justice, we have been working on our poems that needed to have a message, talking about political issues.  We have went to libraries, Capitol One Cafe, and other places so that we could work on these poems and have peace and quiet.  Instead of being at the school for 2 hours.  For this unit we had to make a video of us saying our poem, but not only are we saying it, we are PERFORMING it.  When it comes to reading a poem you need to have lots of emotion and some movement.  We talked about the type of performance you want to give when you are reading a poem or when you are reading anything.  When you are reading to an audience, you need to make them engaged and always make sure that you are acting out some of your poem.  Your audience has to be able to imagine what your poem was all about.  Like a movie playing in their head.  In my video, you will see movement and a different tone in my voice when I am reading my poem.
